How Members Partner with Us
National Advisory Council members have extensive experience in the Retail Industry and they generously share this expertise with students and faculty at Indiana University Merchandising. They offer perspectives on the dynamic retail industry while talking with faculty and students about ways the program can stay in the forefront of retail academic programs to serve students in achieving excellence and preparing for careers in the industry. Council members meet on the campus for designated meetings to collaborate and share with both students and faculty. They often have Roundtable Programs with students, speak in classes, talk on panels, speak with individual students, watch students present programs for which they have been involved and to share with council members activities for which they are excelling. Council members also assist with skype presentations in classes from their home offices or help faculty with research. Council members and their companies help financially support enrichment opportunities the department offers to students such as the National Retail Federation Big Show Student Program in New York City, the Retail Studies Organization’s (RSO) Chicago Field Seminar and Spring Corporate Field Seminars, the RSO Banquet and the RSO Fashion Show as well as help provide internship opportunities for students.
